Cedar Psychiatry

CULTURALLY ATTUNED CARE

Psychiatric Care That Understands Where You Come From

Cedar Psychiatry was built with immigrant and Farsi-speaking patients in mind from the beginning. Dr. Eslami practices in both Farsi and English, and cultural understanding is part of the clinical work rather than an afterthought. Care here combines Eastern wisdom with Western medical practice, so that you can describe what you are carrying in the language and the terms that feel most true to you.

WHAT WE UNDERSTAND

Care Shaped by Language, Family, and Experience

Dr. Eslami practices in Farsi and English, so you can describe what you are experiencing without translating it first. For many patients, especially older immigrants, this is the difference between explaining a symptom and actually being understood in your own words.

Leaving one country for another carries losses that are rarely named: profession, language, status, and proximity to family. We treat that experience as clinically relevant rather than background, and we make room for it in how your care is understood and planned.

Obligation, duty, and the expectations of parents and children can shape how much of your life feels like your own. We work with these dynamics as they are lived within Iranian and Iranian-American families, without asking you to choose between care and loyalty.

In many families, psychiatric care still carries shame, and the first appointment can feel like an admission of failure. We meet that hesitation directly, without judgment or pressure, and we take the time to explain plainly what treatment is, and what it is not.
